Methodology in Secondary Level

This project consisted in creating a research paper about one of the teaching approaches that exist. I did this assigment with a companion from the class. The topic that we got for the research paper was "The Whole Language approach". This was my first time making a research paper, so it was an interesting experience. I had to do research on the topic by reading book and articles found online that had information on the topic. The research made me completely understand the whole language approach. I got to see how it functions inside the classroom and what role the teacher and the student has with it. With the research I did not only saw the benefits of the approach, but I also saw its flaws in the classroom. It is good to see both side of the coin when doing the research, because that is the only way to understand the topic and see if it is useful. I found that I wouldn't exactly use this approach in my teaching when I become a teacher. The flaws I saw on the whole language approach shouldn't be ignored. Nonetheless, I do plan to use some aspects from the approach that I believe will help me in my teaching. I learned that instead of using one teaching method or approach, we should just utilize what could be useful to us inside the classroom to improve on our teaching. I do not believe that it means our teaching will be perfect, because there is always room for improvements. However, by utilizing the different aspects from the teaching methods and approach, we can make the improvements and prepare ourselves better for any kind of situation we might find inside the classroom.
