Young Adult Literature

Reflection

The professor gave the class an assignment to do a video presentation book talk on books for young adults. I decided to do mine on the book titled “Sadie”. We were told that it wasn’t necessary to read the book, but I still read a few pages to get a good feeling of what I had to do. The professor gave the class an assignment to do a video presentation book talk on books for young adults. I decided to do mine on the book titled “Sadie”. We were told that it wasn’t necessary to read the book, but I still read a few pages to get a good feeling. Figuring out what to say in the presentation about the book to persuade people was challenging. I had to find the middle ground where I could give enough information to get the viewers’ interest, but not enough to accidentally spoil the book for them. I wish I had been able to read the whole book because it would have helped me better plan what to say and made me more confident when saying it. Not only that but at the same time, I struggled to follow a line of thought multiple times during the presentation because I wouldn’t know what the best way would be to express myself for the viewers to understand. Therefore, next time I should at least practice some faint lines to help me continue a fluent spoken idea without the presentation sounding scripted. My professor and classmate said my book talk was well done and very persuasive. It filled me with happiness because I did not know if I had done a good job since this was my first book talk. I found this experience refreshing and entertaining. Now I know how to better prepare myself for the next time I do a book talk which hopefully will be soon enough.
