Productivity Programs for Microcomputers
In this assignment, I was tasked to create a tutorial on a productivity tool to help guide teachers to find good sources to use in class. This is important, not just for teachers, but also for students. In the classroom, we might have to use this skill a lot with our students. When it comes to creating tutorials, it has the fundamentals of teaching: model, clear instructions, and proper educational guidance that demonstrate the usage and importance of such skills for the student to have. Therefore, teachers should practice and master the way to create useful tutorials. Tutorials will be of much use to students, for if we need to instruct them on a project or website, we wish them to partake in our class. As I said before, it uses clear understandable instruction, explaining even the simplest of questions to fully guarantee our students don’t get lost. At the same time, students need visual aids to help them comprehend the instructions, so they can imitate. For that reason, the tutorial uses visual aids with highlighted colors to guide students along with detailed instruction. This practice is supposed to facilitate instructions for students, so it will be useful to try it when giving topics such as guiding students to write essays on word or preparing presentations in PowerPoint. This way we as teachers can start adding technology into our classroom in a way students understand and follow. The students will then be prepared for their future which is highly dependent on the usage of technology to survive.
The purpose of this assignment was to create a quiz using the Google forum tool. I have always seen it being used as a survey. Therefore, I was a little taken aback when told to make a quiz in a Google forum. It was my first time working with google forum, but I quickly noticed how easy it is to use the tool. The options it gave you are few, but depending on how you use it, it can work wonders in the classroom. It was interesting how one can use this tool to give students a quiz using technology. I constructed a small quiz on the topic of essays because is something of major importance to an English teacher. It allows teachers to give students multiple-choice questions and written questions. I would personally use it to construct assessment quizzes to test my student’s understanding of the topic and understand their strong and weak points. This way I am better organized and prepared for what I should focus on in my next class for my students to keep learning and improving. At the same time, the tool is of high importance, especially after what we witnessed during the pandemic where classes were online, and teachers needed to find different teaching techniques to teach their classes. Google Forum is without a doubt a tool that can and should be used when classes are online. Not only will it allow us as teachers to test our students on the subject, but the tool also helps teachers correct the quiz to fasten the grading process and give the students their respective grades early. In the end, it is a tool that will allow us to be organized for the sake of our students and their learning.
